    Abstract

    This paper focuses on the development of small hydropower (SHP) projects in India; especially in Uttarakhand. SHP is one of the most promising renewable energy technologies and most of the nations in the world are continuously trying to harness power through various hydropower sources. India is one of the countries in world; having abundant water resources and both government and private sector are continuously working for the development of SHP projects in the country. SHP has multiple advantages with low cost and high benefit. There is a huge potential of SHP projects in Uttarakhand because of it is a larger part of Ganga basin.
